Ukelele Eric

Singer and performer

(If you're visiting this website to connect to my Youtube/social media accounts, use the links at the top of the page)

I am mainly an acoustic ukelele and banjolele player and singer, covering all sorts of genres and styles.

I can cover songs ranging from the 1880s (and before) all the way through to 2020s, including Pop, Rock, Folk, Tin Pan, Chanson, Country.  I specialise in the comedic.  I see myself as an entertainer rather than just a musician.  I am willing to do mixed age events, or adult-only ones (the 1920s songs are not all innocent, you know!).  I especially like to do small community-based dates.

I currently own ukes of various sizes from sub-soprano through to 8-String tenor, a small banjolele and a tenor banjo.  Although most are cheap instruments, they are not toys, and several of them show signs of playing-wear.

I often busk in the local area, but I am also open to bookings of various types: want to give someone a birthday surprise? Done that.  Want to celebrate a wedding in a different way?  Likewise.  Or maybe you just want to throw a party for all your neighbours on the nearby recreation ground? (Done that too)

(PS. I haven't misspelled Ukelele - that spelling is a British variant - the more common spelling is Ukulele.  My performance name is that spelling because I am British, to avoid confusion with others of similar names, and it sets me apart from the rest.)

Ukelele Eric

I have performed in various formal and informal environments, including Old Bolsover Yard (http://www.oldbolsoveryard.com/), Mansfield Westgate (Busker Stage), Mansfield Folk Festival, and at community events (including open garden events), and charity events like the Summer Strum in the North-west (https://www.summerstrum.co.uk/).  Small settings are fine - I use minimal equipment, often no amplification, and can entertain small groups as well as larger ones.  I do have some basic equipment that allows me to play slightly-amped, or to plug into an existing PA, mixer or sound system; and my banjolele and tenor banjo are quite loud as it is.

What sort of gigs?  Weddings, funerals, parties of various sorts.  Adult, community and family events.  Private and intimate occasions (like wedding proposals).  Old people's homes (performance or singalong).  If you're unsure, contact me. MOST of my repertoire is family-friendly and suitable for mixed age groups.

You will find me on various social media platforms, usually as something like 'Ukelele Eric' (note spelling) - there are some links at the top of the page, but I am also on Mastodon: https://mstdn.social/@UkeleleEric and have a Vimeo page for my supporters (you can support me financially by one of several methods - see Support me tab).

Please browse through the pages of my website and YouTube channel (linked at the top of the page) to get a feel for what I do.  Or ask me directly whether I can do what you want.

Looking forward to entertaining you.

Some reviews:

(May 2023)

We had Eric at a family party for my brother who was 60, his children and grandchildren attended so it was a mixed age group, Eric was very friendly and explained which instruments he was playing on, which he did very well. He has a varied list of songs and kept us entertained while he was there, some people carried on talking but later they said it was good to have some background entertainment, I would certainly recommend Eric to liven up any party, thank you so much for attending ours.

(June 2024)

I booked Eric on behalf of Birchover Open Gardens on the 8/9 June 2024.  We were looking for some background entertaining music to be played outside, and in various locations around the village, over the two afternoons.

Although Eric lives quite a distance away, he arrived on time and was eager to set up, Eric was very personable and as described on his website 'music for fun' was the theme of the day.  Young and old were entertained by him.  As agreed he played in several locations around the village but was also great at engaging in conversation with our visitors to the Birchover Open Gardens Event.  A very friendly guy who entertained our visitors!

One of my own songs

A load of ol' cobblers

Although I cover a lot of songs, I have written a few of my own, and this is one of them.  Click on the picture to be directed to my YouTube video for this song of mine played on my Tenor Banjo.
